Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1 in 'El Clasico'
Barcelona beat their closest rival Real Madrid in 'El Clasico' on Sunday night at the camp nou Stadium by 2-1.
Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu gave Luis Enrique's side the opener in the 19th minutes to take the lead,it was a good performance from both teams through out the match.
Real Madrid attacker and current World best Cristiano Ronaldo gave his team hope of taking something good out of camp nou when he equalized in the 31st minutes of the match, Real Madrid continues to mount pressure on Barcelona through the first half.
Former Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez gave Barcelona the goal they needed to retain their 1st position in the La Liga table the decisive goal came in the 56th minutes, Barcelona was able to control the game and also defend well to deny Real Madrid players from seeing their net once again.
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique "It was a very important victory. Because they are our direct rivals and it now looks we have more chances of winning the league. Towards the end of the second half we opened a lot of spaces that we should have seized to score a third goal. That would have been good for our goal average. But I value this much-needed victory so we could increase the difference in points with them. Now we can face the end of the league with a relative advantage."
Real Madrid defender Pepe "It is difficult now because we are four points behind them. But we must think that it would be like last season that things were decided in the very last game. So we must fight every game we have left to make Barcelona's life more difficult."
