UEFA Champions League Draw
UEFA Champions League will see a repeat of
last year's final after Atletico Madrid were drawn against holders Real
Madrid in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday (20th March).
Former Germany striker Karl-Heinz Riedle, who won the Champions League
with Borussia Dortmund in 1997, made the draw for the quarter-finals of
the Champions League in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
Real Madrid will take on crosstown rivals Atletico in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and that could be bad news for the 10-time winners.
The defending champions, who were routed 4-0 by their local rivals last month, were drawn to face Atletico in a rematch of last year's final.
Also, 2013 champions Bayern Munich will face FC Porto, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona will meet again after playing in the group stage this season, and the final match-up pits Juventus against Monaco.
Former Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, who was Liverpool's penalty shootout hero in the 2005 Champions League final, carried out the draw for the Europa League.
Defending champions Sevilla will take on Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in the quarter-finals and Napoli will play against Bundesliga club Wolfsburg for the first time.
Sevilla, who advanced at the expense of Villarreal to stay on course to win the continent's second-tier competition for a fourth time in 10 years, will host the Russian club in the first leg on 16th April, with the return leg on 23rd April.
Fiorentina, the other Italian team to reach the quarter-finals, have been paired with Dynamo Kiev, with the final match-up pitting Dnipro of Ukraine against Belgian club Bruges.
Russian and Ukrainian sides could not meet in the quarter-finals under a decision from the UEFA Emergency Committee because of the crisis involving the countries.
