Burnley held Tottenham to a goaless draw
Burnley created the better chances, with club top scorer Danny Ings forcing two saves from Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm in the first half.
Christian Eriksen drove Tottenham's best opportunity over the crossbar in the 69th minute.
Sixth-place Tottenham move level on points with Liverpool and are seven points behind fourth-place Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino: "Difficult game. It was difficult for him (Harry Kane) and difficult for the team. In the way that they play, it's difficult because always a long ball into the box and it's a team that's aggressive. Difficult to find the space to play. I think we played better in the second half. We created some chances, but it wasn't enough for us to score. We try, we try. It was a very difficult game. Three weeks ago Manchester City lost here. It's not an excuse, but they are a very, very difficult team."
