Kevin De Bruyne to complete €80 million Man City move.
Kevin De Bruyne is set to complete his long-expected move to Manchester City, with various German media outlets reporting the completion of a deal worth up to €80 million transfer for Wolfsburg. This is despite reports of a late PSG push for the Belgian.
The highly-reliable Wolfsburger Allgemeine reports that breakthrough talks were held on Wednesday, and whilst it has not yet been signed the transfer is set to be announced either on Thursday to Friday, following a medical. The fee will be around €74 million, with add-ons taking it up to €80 million.
Wolfsburg have made several attempts to convince De Bruyne to stay, with the latest offer running to 2019 like his existing deal but will a pay rise of at least €5 million. Other reports in recent days suggested that Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain could look to challenge City for the Belgian.
However De Bruyne’s mind appears to have been made up for some time now, and he could now make his debut for the Citizens against Watford on Saturday.
The 24-year-old joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea in January 2014, and made 70/71 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals.
Wolfsburg’s attention must now turn to replacing a player who was integral to their success last season, when they finished second behind Bayern Munich. Early reports suggest they could be interested in Anderlecht’s Dennis Praet.
