Anderlecht came from behind to draw with Arsenal
Anderlecht fight back from three goals down to stun Arsenal and draw 3-3
in their Champions League Group D match on Tuesday (4th November) at
the Emirates Stadium.
And with the Gunners 3-0 up on the hour mark after goals from Mikel
Arteta, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, it appeared that the
victory was assured.
Anderlecht coach Besnik Hasi said all thanks should go to their fans because they gave the team confidence despite three goals down.
"At half time we said we needed to create more chances and we needed to use the space a lot better. At 3-0 you either say the game is over and Arsenal might score four or five but we made some chances and at 3-1 we grew in confidence. I really have to thank our fans tonight because a number of them came and even at 3-0 down they gave a lot of confidence to our team. I think our players got back into the rhythm of the game after that because of the supporters and then we started to play." ~ Besnik Hasi
But Anderlecht hit back in the final half hour with two goals from Anthony Vanden Borre, before a last minute equaliser from Aleksander Mitrovic silenced the crowd at the Emirates.
It means Arsenal now have seven points and remain second in the group while Anderlecht have four and lie in third place.
