After a heavy defeat at home to Borussia Dortmund was followed up by a shock 4-0 reverse to Istanbul Basaksehir, Galatasaray could ill afford another slip up against Kasimpasa on Friday.
But the hosts - who started with star man Wesley Sneijder on the bench - were once again staring down another defeat when Adem Buyuk collected a through ball from Ryan Donk and cooly applied the finish to put Kasimpasa one goal up just before the break.
Cesare Prandelli's side though responded in the second half - Burak Yilmaz bundling the ball home in the 53rd minute with a goal that had a suspicion of offside about it.
Then, in the dying moments of the match, Galatasaray snatched all three points - Aurelien Chedjou rising highest to touch Sabri Sarioglu's corner into the path of Umut Bulut.
The striker made no mistake from close range to put Gala at the top of the Super Lig standings.
Next up for Prandelli's men is the return leg against Dortmund in Champions League Group D on Tuesday.
