Arsenal beat Southampton with the help of Alexis Sanchez late goal to reduce the points between both team to three.
Arsenal remain at 6th position after their win against Southampton who has lost two straight matches in the EPL, mean while Chelsea,Liverpool and Defending Champion Manchester City all won their matches .
Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger believe the game was difficult for his boys considering the fact that they played three matches in just seven days and also Southampton is a very good side.
"Yes, we were a bit... it was difficult for us to keep going from the start of the game because we had given a lot against (Borussia) Dortmund, given a lot on Saturday, today was the third game in seven days and you could see that we had to dig deep. We played against a good team who is very well organized, who play very quick on the counter-attack. For us it was important not to be expose on the counter-attack, keep a clean sheet and be patient and wait for our chances and you could see in the last twenty minutes that they (Southampton) started to suffer a little bit physically and we created openings." said Wenger
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman said their game against Arsenal was Difficult but it was more difficult against Manchester City who are currently in the 2nd position in the EPL Koeman added that they played very poorly against the GUNNER.
"Oh, today was difficult. Last Sunday it was more difficult, because we didn't play well. Today, we had good ball position and I was surprised that Arsenal was waiting. Arsenal was not pressing from the beginning and that's a compliment for us. But, you need a bit of luck and we played well in the first half, we had the best chance in the game for (Graziano) Pelle, in the second half for Shane Long, but we were not lucky today in the injuries that we had. Eleven against ten. Eleven against eleven, against Arsenal is difficult, but eleven against ten, it's more difficult and they have the quality to score the goal in the last ten minutes." ~ Koeman
