Manchester City launch legal challenges against UEFA
Court proceedings begin as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City
launch legal challenges against UEFA's Financial Fair Play rulings at
the Court of First Instance (Palais de Justice) in Brussels, Belgium on
Thursday (26th February).
Court proceedings are underway as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City launch legal challenges against UEFA's Financial Fair Play rulings at the Court of First Instance (Palais de Justice) in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday (26th February).
The court is being asked to judge FFP's (Financial Fair Play) infringement of EU competition law and the right to free movement ( of workers, services and capital).
The action is being led by player agent Daniel Striani, as well as fans from PSG and Manchester City.
He is being represented by Jean-Louis Dupont, a Belgian lawyer was part of the legal team that enforced the ground-breaking Bosman ruling in 1995.
In October, the European Commission decided not to investigate the Striani complaint, explaining that "the Court of Brussels is well-placed to ensure compliance with European competition law including by making a reference for a preliminary ruling to the European Court of Justice".
That decision is being now challenged by Striani.
