Nine-man Manchester City's 2-1 loss to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday (5th November) left them rooted at the bottom of Group E and with little chance of progressing to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City fell to a 2-1 home defeat against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday (5th November) to leave their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League hanging by a thread.
Seydou Doumbia scored twice for the Russian side, he opened the scoring in the second minute, but Yaya Toure equalised from a free kick just six minutes later.

Doumbia, who also scored against City in Moscow, restored CSKA's lead in the 34th minute.

A bad night got worse for the English Premier League side as half-time substitute Fernandinho was sent off in the 70th minute for a second yellow card and Toure followed in the 82nd minute after he received a straight red.

"Yes of course maybe that reflected the nervous moment that the players have in this moment with the team. They didn't have any reason to be so nervous, because it just depended on the way to recover our normal performance to win again, but of course with players sent off it is more difficult." ~ Pellegrini said
 

 Manchester City Manager Manuel Pellegrini said the referee decisions during the game was not is problem but how his team will go back to the winning ways once again.

"No I think it's not my duty to analyse the referee's performance. It's your duty to decide if it was a good decision or a bad decision. Especially in this game when the difference was not just the mistake of the referee. I think that we cannot play in the way we played today if we want to win. I don't want to have any excuse about the way we played, that's why I don't want to link the referee with the result."
